The rocky peninsula proves that Toroni has been continuously inhabited since the Neolithic era. This was one of the most important cities of ancient Halkidiki, which was destroyed in the 6th century AD from barbarian raids. Traces of a prehistoric settlement have been found here. The Toroni beach stretches over 2 km in length. Sights • In Cape Lekythos erected the second citadel of Toroni, and the ruins of a Byzantine fortress can still be seen even, probably destroyed during the Turkish occupation. • The early Christian church dedicated to Saint Athanasios (Saint Athanasios). It was built in the 5th century and is basilica. Destroyed by fire in the 6th century and another church was built on foundations of which also later destroyed. The mosaic of the nave survives. •.The cemetery of the Iron Age (11th century BC), where 134 graves have been excavated and 500 fully preserved items that came to light.
